We’ve finally found a class your teen won’t ever skip or fall asleep in. BMW offers four different performance driving schools, each formulated to pass along important skills to help you get the most out of your vehicle. Today, we’d like to focus on one important school in particular, the Teen School.
At Teen School, students start with a brief classroom session where they learn basic car control, and then take to a warm-up course to grow used to the car. Once that’s done, they’ll move on to panic braking, changing lanes and learning how to avoid distracted driving. After all of that, they’ll combine their new car control skills and take on a point run through an autocross course. The goal is precision driving, not speed, so points are deducted for every cone the driver hits and every gate they miss. The intention is to teach teen drivers to look where they want to go and how to put the car where they intend each time they drive.
The BMW Performance Driving Schools are located in Thermal, CA and Greenville-Spartanburg, SC. If you don’t have a full day or weekend, try a Driving Experience. These one-hour sessions will provide you a small taste of the entire Performance Center experience.
