Exterior Design
The 2027 BMW X5 still has the imposing presence that's made it a favorite of enthusiasts worldwide. However, BMW blended the unmistakable proportions of an X model with the groundbreaking design language of the Neue Klasse. It now has a taller front end, a larger matte-finish BMW badge, and refreshed hood lines for a clean, modern appearance. A smaller, vertically aligned BMW kidney Iconic Glow remains illuminated day and night for a distinctive look that turns heads wherever you go.
Interior Design
Inside the new BMW X5, the driver's seat and steering column have been moved to ease entry, while BMW Panoramic Vision and the Central Display deliver a personalized greeting. The revised cockpit features a three-dimensional backlit accent strip and integrated ambient lighting. Innovative natural materials like slate and glass heighten the cabin atmosphere. Available X quilting on the door panels and instrument-panel facing add a modern, three-dimensional seam pattern. A standard panoramic glass sunroof brings a bright, airy feel to the interior.
Performance
In today's world, efficiency and sustainability are priorities for drivers. BMW has answered the call with electrification, including the first battery-electric BMW iX5. Using sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, the completely redesigned high-voltage battery delivers increased range, faster charging, and bidirectional charging capability. When properly equipped, this new powertrain provides an estimated electric range of up to 435 miles.
Other available powertrains include a high-efficiency internal combustion engine with 48V mild hybrid technology in the X5 40 and 40 xDrive, and a plug-in hybrid engine in the BMW X5 50e xDrive offering 44 miles of all-electric range.
Technology
BMW Panoramic iDrive represents the latest generation of BMW's display and operating concept. In the new BMW X5, a BMW Panoramic Vision screen projects content across the full width of the lower windshield. A 17.9-inch free-cut Central Display is the primary touch interface, incorporating QuickSelect for simpler menu navigation. Widgets can be moved from the Central Display to the BMW Panoramic Vision screen by drag and drop, with up to six arrangements for quick access to frequently used functions.
Safety
Your safety is still an overriding concern of BMW, so the X5 receives an expanded suite of standard active safety functions for 2027. BMW Symbiotic Drive helps active safety functions intervene only when a risk is detected, and the driver is distracted or not fully in control. Standard driver assistance features include:
